What Search Texas Tax is
Search Texas Tax is a research platform for Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax and Mixed Beverage Tax public records. It lets you search, track, and export tax and revenue data for hotels, bars, and restaurants across Texas by property name, owner, taxpayer, brand, parent company, city, county, or ZIP code.
Texas is the only state that publishes lodging and mixed-beverage filings at this level of detail. Search Texas Tax collects those filings, cleans and organizes them, and presents them in one search box with property pages, market rollups, charts, and exports.
Where the data comes from
All data comes directly from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Search Texas Tax collects, normalizes, and organizes these public filings into a searchable database. It does not create or estimate the underlying tax figures.
The database is refreshed monthly as the Comptroller releases new filings. State data typically runs about two months behind: for example, May filings usually become available in July.
What the data covers
- 128,431 properties statewide, across all 254 Texas counties.
- 2.9 million individual tax filings.
- Hotel Occupancy Tax and Mixed Beverage Tax records from 2000 to the present.
- Every Texas city and county with reported HOT or MBT activity, not just major metro areas.
Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) data
Hotel Occupancy Tax is a tax collected on short-term lodging in Texas. Each filing reports a property's taxable lodging receipts for a period. Search Texas Tax lets you view reported hotel tax receipts by property, city, county, ZIP code, brand, or ownership group over time, including revenue trends and RevPAR (revenue per available room) where room counts are known.
Mixed Beverage Tax (MBT) data
Mixed Beverage Tax applies to the sale of alcoholic beverages by bars, restaurants, and other permitted venues in Texas. Search Texas Tax includes MBT filings alongside the hotel data, so you can research alcohol sales activity by location, owner, or market.
What you can do with it
- Search anything: hotels, bars, cities, counties, ZIP codes, brands, parent companies, and taxpayers from one search box.
- Property pages: every property has a dedicated page with its historical filings, revenue trends, and ownership or name changes.
- Venue history: when a property rebrands or changes owners, its page follows the physical location, so the building's full reporting history stays in one place.
- Market rollups: city, county, ZIP, brand, chain, and parent-company views with monthly revenue, trailing-twelve-month totals, and year-over-year changes.
- Portfolios: save properties to a portfolio to monitor multiple hotels or venues together and compare their performance over time.
- Exports: property, city, county, and portfolio data can be exported as CSV, PNG, or PDF for reporting and analysis.
Pricing
One plan includes all the data. There is no separate upgrade to see both the hotel and mixed-beverage datasets.
- Monthly: $15 per month.
- Annual: $150 per year, which works out to $12.50 per month.
- Unlimited searches, full property history back to 2000, portfolios, and exports are included in both.
- Cancel anytime. No contracts.

Data accuracy
The Texas Comptroller is the official, authoritative source for this data. Search Texas Tax organizes, aggregates, and presents that same public data for research convenience; it is not a substitute for the Comptroller's official records.
Figures on Search Texas Tax are our interpretation of public state records, and our processing can occasionally introduce errors. Independently verify any critical figure against the Texas Comptroller before relying on it, and please do not make financial decisions based on these figures alone.
Who uses it
Search Texas Tax is used by hotel owners and operators, real estate investors, brokers, market researchers, municipal and tourism officials, and hospitality consultants who need Texas lodging and alcohol tax data.
